Diagnosis
Severe underbite due to a deficient upper jaw
Severe upper crowding
Excessive overlap of the front teeth
Treatment
Upper and lower braces
Rubber bands
Treatment time: 24 months

** Jaw surgery was also treatment option for this patient, but was not necessary due to excellent rubber band wear by the patient. Also, the patient's amount and direction of jaw growth was favorable.
Case #2
Diagnosis
Severe overbite with a small lower jaw and upper incisor protrusion
Crowding
Deep overbite with impingement of the lower front teeth on the roof of the mouth
Treatment
Upper and lower braces
Headgear at night (for 12 months), and rubber bands to correct the overbite and to improve jaw relationships
Time in braces: 32 months

**Extraction of permanent teeth was an option, but was not needed due to excellent patient cooperation with headgear and elastics.
Case #3
Diagnosis
Underbite due to a combination of a small upper jaw, and a large lower jaw
Treatment
First phase of a two phase orthodontic treatment
Reverse pull facemask headgear to protract the upper jaw and redirect lower jaw growth
Upper partial braces
Headgear worn for 12-14 months (nights only)
**Patient will need a second phase of orthodontic treatment when the permanent teeth have erupted which will consist of full braces and rubber bands. Estimated time for the second phase is 20-22 months

Adult patient with moderate to severe upper and lower crowding and a narrow upper jaw
Treatment
Full braces and rubber bands
Time in braces: 18 months
